The Apprentice Meets Geopolitics: Why Witkoff Is Doomed to Fail
A look at the White House's Ukraine strategy, Trump's management style, and the coming power shift in Washington
Many people have been holding their breath since the beginning of the year, waiting to see what the White House will actually implement: from “24 hours,” “30 days,” “100 days,” “the coming weeks will show,” to “I wasn’t the one who started this, actually.”
This shift in rhetoric shows not only that the White House’s words are worth no more than a golf ball sinking into a lake, but also that it’s running into the reality of international relations — which are putting up barriers
.
Why clutch your heart over every statement from Witkoff? You still haven’t figured out who he is? A man without principles, whose only value is profit.
State and business management may seem similar to many, but they’re entirely different fields. A professional isn’t defined by a general understanding, but by deep knowledge and attention to the details of their profession.
Witkoff lacks a deep understanding of international and state processes. He operates based on his “business experience,” thinking he can use it as a foundation for everything. While intergovernmental and corporate relations may overlap by about 70%, real professionalism and effectiveness lie in the ability to understand, analyze, and manage the remaining 30%.
I don’t know about you, but to me it’s quite clear that Witkoff is jumping out of his skin trying to convince everyone (especially Trump) that he’s just this close to success. Only, his “success” keeps being pushed back by weeks, now beyond the 100-day mark, exposing his boss to constant, irritating criticism.
The harder Witkoff tries to prove the success of his actions, the deeper the hole he’ll fall into when the time comes — the time when another power group takes the initiative in the White House.
Some of you have probably read the WSJ article about rising tensions between Rubio and Kellogg versus Witkoff. Rubio and Kellogg see a chance to regain influence in the White House by seizing the Ukraine portfolio. They’re expecting Witkoff to fail — perhaps even helping it along.
🇺🇸 As for Trump — he’s a retiree who wants to play golf and relive the glory days of his reality show “The Apprentice.” Even now, he lives as if in a parody of that show, guided by the remnants of business instincts.
In that show's universe, he’s not responsible for anything. He only gives commands and tasks. Successes are his; failures don’t exist — because there’s always “You’re fired!”
If Witkoff doesn’t deliver, Trump has no friends. There’s only himself and the phrase: “You’re fired!”
He sees himself as above everyone. The boss. And the whole universe? Just a bunch of “apprentices”.
Do you really think he was joking when he called himself “God’s chosen one”?
Witkoff is not an exception. No one is — in the face of “You’re fired!”
But Trump is also like an empty golf ball — filled with information by whichever “apprentice” is in charge of the process. That means it’s Witkoff’s information, via Vance.
Trump doesn’t go deep into issues, and he never will. He sees himself as above all that. Witkoff is the “apprentice” — he’s responsible. If he succeeds, it’s Trump’s win. If he fails — it’s Witkoff’s fault, and he’ll be fired. Most likely replaced by Rubio and Kellogg.
But this is a process. A matter of time. A ripening situation. How exactly? That’s a long story. But Witkoff is in for surprises, even though we’ll all have to endure another circle of hell in the meantime.
I recommend putting on your tinfoil hat to protect yourself from the media madness. But the simplest way to survive all this: detox and focus on what matters — family, country, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Take care of yourself.
